The beat for IWANNAMEETKESHA started out as a sample chop and screw day, and ended with me laying down bass lines, YouTubing Nickelodeon samples, and beating out drum loops. Named after a sample from the show 'Victorious' where Andre (Leon Thomas III) searches for a golden ticket to meet Kesha, the lyrics started as a writing exercise starting with "I Got Bars to start". I was quickly inspired by one of my favourite songs "No Better Blues" by Chance The Rapper, where his lyrics show that simple repetition can result in beautiful and complex poetry. Captivating lyrical focus and musical creativity, backed by a vibrant hip-hop track with loose samples and big groove, this song has proved to capture the crowd at live shows.
